Ready to join

We are excited that you’ve been enjoying scouting and are keen to be invested into our group. We think this is fantastic and look forward to you and your family becoming an integral part of Byattunga Scout Group.

You should aim to be invested on the 6th week you attend.

At Byattunga, like every other Group, we invest our members into the movement.  Your investiture is a special ceremony where you will be presented with your badges and scarf and are formally welcomed into the Group. You will also make your promise at this time.  The promise and law are what all Scouts live by, and it is what defines us. We feel that it is a big part of the reason you want to become a Scout. You may not know it, but you will have learnt a lot about your Promise and during your initial weeks with us.

Next steps and fees are outlined below.

  1. Let leaders know that you want to go ahead and join
  2. Purchase a uniform shirt from scoutshop.com.au, facebook Scout Uniform eXchange group, gumtree or marketplace (the only initial requirement is the shirt)
  3. Pay group fees (details below)
  4. Full membership is then endorsed in the Scouts NSW membership database
  5. Organise investiture with section leaders
  6. Scouts NSW Fees will be invoiced directly
  7. Enjoy your scouting journey!

Scout groups are run entirely by volunteers for our local community. To allow your child(ren) to get the most out of our local scout group, we rely on parent/guardian involvement at some level from each family.

Group Committee meets once a month, usually the 3rd Monday at 7pm and parents are welcome to attend, please contact us to let us know you are coming so that we can confirm the time and location.

Fees are split into 2 components:

  1. Scouts NSW State Membership Fees which will be charged directly by Scouts Australia NSW branch and covers but not limited to Insurance, Administration of the Youth Program, Marketing etc
  2. Group Fees charged directly by Byattunga Scout Group to provide scouting activities for your child, including but not limited to weekly activities at the hall, ongoing maintenance of the hall and group equipment, leader training, badges, replacing equipment, hall and equipment insurance, electricity, water etc.
